New Jobs

So getting new jobs must be the cool thing in our house. I decided that the new facility that I moved to in February just wasn't for me. It was nice, everyone was nice, but it didn't have the family feel that I had at St. Joes, soooo I gave my notice!!! I left a company that I had been with just a month short of 7 years. I am now at the hilton of rehab centers. It is beautiful, smells like vanilla, and I working with one of my girl friends again. I absolutely love it. My patients are almost aways eager to come work out. Best of all I don't feel like I am covered in nasty diseases! Well Stuart must have gotten jealous because he gave his notice to the company that he has been with for 8 years. I keep thinking WHAT ARE WE THINKING!!!! both of us quiting our jobs within almost a month of each other. I am not quite sure if Stuart is loving his job yet (it was his first day today). So we will see how everything works out !!!!!

new year and new adventures!

I am sucking it up with blogging!!! I haven't posted anything since August!!!. I don't feel like I have had anything too momentous happen to deserve its own post. So its a new year!!!!! We had a fun New Years party with Stuarts family (man I am old, I can't stay up as long as I used to!) I have been working ALOT!!! 2 jobs in fact! Love the extra money, but missing being home. We just had a 90th birthday party for my Grandma Cook. Lots of family togetherness!!! yeah for family!!!! The most recent adventure in my life is I am leaving the facility I have been working at for the last 6 years!!!! AHHHHH!!!! The company that owned the building I worked at sold the building and they gave us soooo much notice like a months notice!!! Our last day is January 31st. I have been spending the last week packing up 11+ years worth of crap that the rehab team had accumulated. I will be starting at my new building next Monday. I am kind of scared out of my mind!!!! I haven't started a new job for 6 years, definitely a new adventure!!!

Vegas Baby!

Stuart and I spent the week in Vegas, I was there for a conference and Stuart was there as my chauffeur. We did manage to see some of the sites. We walked up and down the strip a couple times & checked out a couple different hotels. It was SO hot!!! It felt like a 1000 degrees the whole time we were there. We went to the Tournament of Kings and Madame Tussauds wax museum. Both were lots of fun. I wasn't a fan of having to eat with my hands, especially the chicken. The museum was SOOO cool we took lots of fun pictures! To entertain myself, I made a list of random things that I saw some were: 3 elvis's, batman, superman, spiderman, marilyn monroe, a guy with pink hair, a lady with hawiian shorts and high heels, a little girl dressed like a floosie, the blues brothers, an angel, and devil, homer simpson and a old man in a speedo! I had so much fun! Next time I want to go and not have to spend all my time in class :(

The Cocoa bean and the Cupcake Wars

Happy Birthday America!
Stuart and I had a fun filled 4th. Stuart went to his parents to do some work in the yard. Rio and I went shopping with daddy, oh yeah! Even Rio came out with presents! We had the annual BBQ at Stuarts parents. We had some very yummy food! (especially the salads I made) We finished the evening off with watching fireworks on the lawn at Jordan High School. Stuart worked over at his parents house again on the 5th, I got to go to work ! Then Rio and I hung out at my parents house and read (pretty boring yeah, but it was so nice to just relax!)

Soldier Creek!!!

Stuart and I went up to a friends cabin on the shore of Soldier Creek. When we got there we made a yummy breakfast, oh so good! All of us went out on the boat, the boys fished, Stuart was the driver and the girls played Phase 10. We had to put candy on our cards so that they wouldn't blow away! Rio loved being on the boat. He loved having the wind blow in he's face!

The Sealing!

So Simon and Kristen were sealed in the Draper Temple on June 19th!! It was so much fun seeing them take this next step in there life. Way to go!!! love you both!

Fartigued 5K walk, run, waddle & roll

So a co-worker and I had a brilliant idea... plan a 5K for work. Guess who got to plan it???? ME!!! We had it at Liberty Park in Salt Lake. It was a lot of fun!!! Almost everyone from the office was able to come, I even recruited my parents, Stuart and Rio to come. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and said we had to do it again. So I guess that means I need to start planning it now.

Stuart's surgery

So usually I just blog about what is going on with me, never Stuart (because he has his own blog, and he talks about himself)! Today I decided he deserve to get a little attention in my blog. So here is the whole story (according to me, if you want Stuarts version, you will have to ask him!) So here it goes.

Saturday: We went over to my parents house for dinner, we were supposed to cook hot dogs over the fire so we could fight off the cabin fever we have all been getting, but it was SNOWING! So We ate our hot dogs/bratwurst and went to frogurt for ice cream. When we were coming home he started to get a stomachache. The stomachache moved its way around the right side and was is in the back and front. The pain just wasn't going away so we decided to go to insta-care, but it was closed! So the next step THE ER! So off we went, the Jordan Valley Hospital! We got there around 10:30 p.m. and got into see a doctor around 11 p.m. After a blood test, urine test, CT scan and ultra-sound the doctor decided that they would admit him into the hospital to have his gallbladder removed the next day.

Sunday: At 8:30 they wheeled him into surgery and left me to wonder the hospital looking for FOOD! I had the lovely opportunity of hanging out in the surgical waiting room. (I took a nap! you really don't get a whole lot of sleep on those hospital chairs). Stuart came out of surgery around 10:30-11:30 a.m. They day was spent watching Stuart sleeping ALL DAY!!! After sleeping all day, we had both our families visit. It was a very nice distraction from watching Stuart SLEEP! The prospect of sleeping in that chair again was not very exciting. I made it till about 1:00 a.m. and tried the floor. As soon as I had laid down the CNA came in and asked if I wanted a roll-away bed, where was he before I went to sleep! So I slept so nicely on my lumpy bed till about 8:00 a.m. So it was a nice sleep!

Monday: After breakfast, a walk and a change of clothes Stuart got DISCHARGED from the hospital. I have never been so happy when the nurse and doctor said Stuart was good to go.
We got home around 11:00 a.m. After I got Stuart all settled I finally got to take a shower and a nap in a really bed. It is so nice to be out of the hospital (everyone was very nice there, it is just nice to be home). Now the new adventure is trying to find foods that I can feed Stuart, he has to avoid fatty foods, red meat, and all sorts of other stuff. I really have no clue of what he is going to eat!

Flat as a pancake 5k

I just finished running my second 5k. It was the flat as a pancake 5k. I did it in 41 mins. Not the best, but it is 4 mins off my last one. My excuse was that 1. we had to run on grass, dirt and gravel, 2. it is cold! & 3. I still pretty much suck at running. But I am trying!!

Mexican Cruise!

For Stuart and My 5th wedding anniversary we decided we wanted to do something fun. So we went back and forth on what. I kept saying that I wanted to take another cruise (my girlfriends and I took one last spring). So I finally had Stuart convinced, we were going on a cruise!!! So we decided to take the one I did last year, since I already knew the ports we would be going too. We spent the day at the beach in Cabo San Lucas. I was so beautiful, but way hot!! We definitely got crispy fried, we did put on lots of sunscreen, but I guess it didn't work. We spent lots of time being lazy and going to shows on the boat (we had 2 days at sea between ports). Stuart even was on a game show that he just about won and a basketball free throw contest. We bought lots of souviers in Ensenada. I even got my hair braided again! I think the one phrase that I used through out the whole trip was "no thank you" to all the junk that people sale on the street and all the alcohol!!! We had so much fun!! Even before we were off the boat I was trying to find out when we can go on our next cruise!!!

I am so excited!!! I survived my first 5K !!!. It was the Wasatch Women's 5K & 10 K at Sugarhouse park. There was 1300 runners (all women) the guys were there to cheer us on. I ran it in 43 mins and 28.3 seconds. Kind of slow, but I think it is good for my first ever race and on a sprained ankle. I am may just have to do another one this summer!!!

Mirror Lake adventure and sprained ankle

My parents and I went on a little adventure! We took a little drive up to Mirror Lake and saw the most beautiful waterfall. We decided that it would make the prettiest background for an engagement picture. If I hadn't been married for a million years I would of totally wanted this as the back drop for my pictures. As for the sprained ankle! I have been training for a 5k that happens to be at the end of August. I was running at Sugar House Park, tripped and fell! I totally hurt my ankle. Worst thing I was running alone and clear across the park from my car. So I had to hobble across the park to get to my car. Stuart was super sweet and took care of me for two days!!! I had to give him a well deserved break so he went over to a friends house for a "geek" party. So my parents had to take care of me and that is when we went for the drive. I just got to sit in the backseat with my foot up on the seat. It was a nice break from being grounded in bed for two days.
Against any advice I might get I will still be doing the 5k!!!

We're going to candy mountain!!!!

Stuart and I spent most of the week at his family reunion down at Big Rock Candy Mountain. It was lots of fun. We spent Wednesday and Thursday four wheeling all over the mountains and terrorizing the nice people of Marysville. Friday was pretty laid back I just hung around camp and went to the craft store in Marysville. It is such a cute store, if Stuart would have let me I would have bought everything in the store. But how would I get everything back home!!! We topped the day off by floating down the river, it was a VERY SLOW river. It took us over an hour to float about 2 miles. It was lots of fun till it started pouring on us. I can't figure out why no one likes to get rained on/splashed on when your in water. I am kind of sad that we had to go home, we had a lot of fun hanging out with family!!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Stuart and I had a super fun holiday weekend with Stuarts family ( Dad, Mom, Simon, Kristen, Sam and Vannessa). We started the weekend off early, We went out to dinner with the family for Steve's birthday. We went to Bonsai. It was such a good dinner, the chef tried to get all of us to catch a piece of shrimp in our mouths. The boys were able to catch the shrimp in their mouths, but Sue and I had a little more trouble. I was never able to catch one. Instead I got hit in the head and twice in the face. I came close, but not close enough. Friday, We went miniature golf with Sam and Vannessa. Of course I lost!!! bad!!! Saturday, was a total blast! The boys "played" Soft ball and the girls watched and chatted it up. We went to Jordan High and watched the fire works and tried to play a game of UNO. To top the whole
weekend off we had a mass napping session!!!

Well Stuart and I have officially been married for 5 years today!!! It has been the best years of my life. I was surprised by Stuart at work when he showed up with a dozen roses!!! I made him take me out to lunch, since it was 11:30, I was hungry and I was just finishing up with my last patient of the morning. For our official anniversary date we went out for sushi, which was super good!!! I can't wait to see what the next 5 years hold for us!! I love you Bubba!!

Zions Canyon

Stuart and I decided that we have been working so hard being lazy, that we needed a little trip. So last weekend we headed down to Zions Canyon. It was super pretty down there!!! We spent all Saturday hiking all over the park. It was so much fun, but when you are out of shape it is kind of tireding. I think that we ended up hiking the whole canyon. We took I think a million pictures between Stuart and I. It was such a nice weekend just to get away. I had a hard time coming back and getting back to normal life.

Since it is trying to be spring we are trying to start the infamous yard work that has been looming over our heads since last fall. We had great plans of when things were going to be done, but when my dad had to tear down his new shed that he was building and decided it needed a home at our house it put everything else on hold. So now we get to pour a cement pad for the shed and re-build the shed before I get my sprinkling system :(. I am super excited to be getting a shed for the back yard so that Stuart can have his own play house (he has always been jealous of my dad's play house). So if it ever decides to quite snowing or raining we can get it all started. I will be so glad when it is all done !!! We did take a little break because of the weather to work on the basement. We took a little trip to Ikea ( I love that store, its like an adventure just going in) to "look" at some book shelves. I wanted a new bed but Stuart said we had to wait. So we spent all of last weekend re-decorating the basement. Now we have all of our books organized and I have my own craft room!!! I think Stuart was getting tired of me having all the little pieces of paper from when I make cards all over the floor.

Saturday Adventures with Stuart!!

About this time every year we start getting sick of staying in doors. So we had a saturday adventure. We went up to Memorial Grove, so Stuart could take some pictures (to brush up and increase his portfolio). Being the smart people that we are we looked up the directions on google and never printed them off, so pretty much we were winging it trying to get there. We actually found it without to much trouble. The only problem was it looked so nice outside that we decided to wear shorts!!! It ended up being a little cold. It was just too pretty of a day to waste it, so we just went for it. Stuart feels that if he is taking pictures I need to too. I tried taking some pictures but I was having way too much fun watching 3 brides getting their pictures taken. It just made me want to be a bride again. I should of drawn out being a bride a little longer!!! So when Stuart finally drug me away from staring we were off on a little hike along the creek. We walked a little and took so picture. Then walked and took some pictures. We were there for about 2 hours till I was frozen and couldn't take it any longer. It ended up being a lot of fun. We decided to go back another time, but this time when it is warmer!!!

Bathroom fan

Well we (Stuart and Steve) are in the middle of trying to put in our new bathroom fan. We haven't had one in the master bathroom up till now, so there has been a lot of tapping in the ceiling and banging. The fan is still in the box, or maybe by the time I post this the fan maybe will be out of the box!!! Because of this adventure we have found out that we need more insulation in the ceiling and one of the trusses(i can't spell) is breaking!!! yeah for being a home owner!!! I think that we will being a lot more of these home project adventures!!! I guess what would be the fun if everything in our house was perfect. The plan for the day was I was going to hide at the library so that i would be out of the boys way, but i got bored studying and there was way too many screaming kids??? What happened to whispering at the library??? It was kind of fun to watch a little baby girl crawling around ripping books off the shelves!!! I never found out where her mom was?!?!? More to come after the fan goes in/or my ceiling collapses from the boys crawling around up there!!!

Stuart has been bugging me to have my own blog, so here it is. I can't believe anyone wants to hear what is going on in my boring life. The only things that have been going on is we have been making big plans for the house and the yard. Stuart and Steve are putting a fan in the master bath, our bathroom is staying way too steamy after I take showers. I will post some before and after pictures when it actually happens. We are also planning to paint the whole house or possible just the upstairs. Then here is lots of stuff to be done with the backyard (lots of plans there) Well I will keep everyone up to date with my fun filled life!!!
